Singer/songwriter Janelle Monae and her roster of Wondaland Records artists have released a joint EP “The Eephus”. The entire crew has been doing more than promoting their music this week. In Philadelphia and New York they participated in peaceful protests surrounding the Black Lives Matter Movement. In conjunction with their efforts they released the single “Hell You Talmbout” last night. Janell Monae described the song as a vessel adding that “It carries the unbearable anguish of millions. We recorded it to channel the pain, fear and trauma caused by the ongoing slaughter of our brothers and sisters. We recorded it to challenge the indifference, disregard and negligence of all who remain silent about this issue. Silence is our enemy Sound is our weapon. They say a question lives forever until it gets the answer it deserves. Wont you say their names?”. Police brutality does indeed deserve more attention and the song is definitely a step in the right direction. The members of New Edition, with the exception of Bobby Brown, have all signed a deal for a biopic on the group. While no other details have been made public, the film should be a must seen. Rapper/producer Dr. Dre scored a first in UK chart history as his new album “Compton” hit number one today. Congratulations Dre!
