inJanet Jackson’s single “No Sleep” remains number one on the Adult R&B Songs chart for the sixth week (on the list date Oct. 10), becoming her longest running number one on the chart. This achievement surpasses her five weeks at the top with “I Get Lonely” in 1998. In it’s 14th week on the list, “No Sleep”, featuring J. Cole, climbs 4 percent in spins at the format, during the tracking week ending Sept. 27, according to Neilsen Music. Jackson has placed 27 entries on the Adult R&B Songs chart since the chart started in 1993. Over on Hot R&B Songs, “No Sleep” steps 18-17, aided by the airplay gain and 480,000 domestic streams during the week ending Sept. 24 ( a ten percent decline). It peaked at no. 7 on the Aug 17 chart. It’s so wonderful to see Ms. Jackson by on the music scene. In other Jackson news, according to Taj Jackson, son of original Jackson Five member Tito Jackson, family patriarch Joe Jackson is doing much better after suffering a stroke in late July while visiting Brazil. Taj, along with brothers TJ and Taryll spoke at an event promoting their new docuseries, “The Jacksons: Next Generation”. The three brothers along with cousins Prince, Paris, Blanket and grandmother Katherine will be featured on the show. The show premieres on Oct 2. After being warned by the Australian government of it’s intent to ban him from the country due to his criminal history, singer Chris Brown took to social media site Twitter to explain why he thinks he should be allowed in. In 2009, Brown pled guilty to assaulting then girlfriend Rhianna, with his plea deal requiring community service, counseling and probation. Brown has since apologized for the incident and also visited Australia for his 2011 F.A.M.E Tour and performed at the Australian music festival Supafest in 2012 with no visa issues. In his first tweet posted on Tuesday, Brown wrote that he “would be more than grateful to come to Australia to raise awareness about domestic violence.” We’ll have to wait and see if Brown is able to work things out.

inAfter website TMZ reported that singer Chris Brown was getting his own Las Vegas residence, it’s now been reported that the R&B star has signed a deal with Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub, although according to a representative for Brown, “the specifics being reported are incorrect. Correct details will be revealed soon.” Brown’s first show at Drai’s will reportedly be on Oct 3. Brown recently completed his “One Hell Of A Night” summer tour of 25 U.S. cities, which launched on Aug. 12 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City and ended on Sep. 19 in California. In other Chris Brown news, the young star is facing the possibility of being banned from Australia. Yesterday government officials formally warned Brown that he’s likely to be denied a visa due to his conviction for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rhianna. R&B crooner August Alsina caters to female listeners and knows how to play the role of ladies man very well. While performing at the Freebandz Music Festival in Baton Rouge LA along with Fetty Wrap, Roco and Future, the singer brought a fan onstage and serenaded her. He may have taken things too far. In an Instagram video posted by Baller Alert, the singer is shown groping the fan inappropriately. Whether the fan knew what happened remains to be seen. The incident caused a firestorm of controversy on Twitter earlier this morning. Not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the singer has done this. There’s footage of him groping another fan while singing “Ghetto”. It looks like he takes his seduction techniques too seriously. When the second episode of Fox televison’s “Empire” airs on Wednesday, Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, Becky G and V. Bozeman will guest star. Fans will recall that Bozeman electrified viewers with her performance of “What Is Love”. Now Bozeman is ready to ramp up the wow factor with “Hourglass”. Among other songs introduced in the second episode, the powerful ballad was co-written and co-produced by Terrence Howard, aka Lucious Lyon, and Max Beesley. Bozeman’s vocals are showcased fully. The video will appear on Vevo on Sept. 30, while the single goes on AC urban radio on Oct. 5. Bozeman will join Rahiem Devaughn and Leela James on a 25-city tour that will begin on Oct. 7 in Charleston SC.

inA Taste Of Honey, one of the first groups to feature female musicians, is best remembered for the disco hit “Boogie, Oogie, Oogie”. Formed in 1971 in Los Angeles, the group’s original lineup included bassist Janice Johnson, keyboardist Perry Kibble, drummer Donald Johnson and Gregory Walker. Walker soon left the group and was later replaced by guitarist Hazel Payne. The group improved it’s sound prior to being discovered by Capital Records. While performing in a nightclub, the group was spotted by recorded producers Fonze and Larry Mizell, who convinced Capital Records executive Larkin Arnold to give them an audition. They signed a five album contract billing themselves after Herb Albert’s hit “A Taste Of Honey”. They released their debut self-titled album with “Boogie, Oogie, Oogie”, being the lead single. The song spent three weeks at the number one position on the charts. The group received platinum records for both the album and single. They were also awarded a Grammy award for Best New Artist. They went on to release several more albums but were unable to recapture their initial success.

inA week away from the release of the album “Unbreakable”, Janet Jackson has released another single, “Burnitup!”, featuring Missy Elliott. Jackson revealed the track yesterday on BBC Radio 1, with Mistajam playing the song twice, back to back immediately. The club ready jam was debuted during Jackson’s “Unbreakable” tour in August, building further anticipation for her first studio album in seven years. Following the announcement of the “Unbreakable” track list, the inclusion of Missy Elliot brought a great deal of attention. The hip hop icon hasn’t released any new music of her own since 2008 and her last feature was on Faith Evans’ “I Deserve It” last year. “Unbreakable” hits stores on Oct. 2. R&B/soul legend Gladys Knight is getting her dance on with her new single “Just A Little”. Available on all digital platforms today, the upbeat track teams the seven time Grammy Award winner with fellow Grammy winner and producer Symbolyc One, aka S1. Written and produced by Knight protégé/R&B singer Avehre, “Just A Little” is the lead single from the singer’s 12th studio album. Knight says she wanted something she could dance to. A video for the song will be released soon. It looks like singer Chris Brown’s plans to tour Australia and New Zealand could be scrapped due to his off stage behavior. An Australian government minister has indicated that the R&B star won’t be allowed to tour the country in December because of his off stage behavior. Speaking at the launch of a federal initiative to prevent domestic violence, Michaelia Cash stated that she would recommend that immigration minister Peter Dutton refuse the 26-year-old singer a visa on character grounds. According to reports, commercial radio network Nova FM has backed out of it’s arrangement to sponsor the tour. A story on Brown’s visit appeared on the company’s web site but was removed The New Zealand leg of the singer’s tour is currently standing on shaky ground as well. An immigration official there said that he would be ineligible for a visa unless given special direction in light of earlier decisions from the U.K. and Canada to deny him entry.
